Types of contributions
Eight types of contributions are allowed at IHM 2006. The main language of the conference is French, but we encourage non-French speaking authors to participate in this conference and will accept papers and presentations in English.
Please, consult the instructions to authors. Long, short and applied papers, and doctoral consortium, demos and videos summaries will be published in the conference proceedings, whereas the posters, tutorials and workshops will not be published.
- Long papers
Research papers that report significant research contributions not published previously. Between 5 and 8 pages. Published in the proceedings. A 20 min presentation followed by a 10 min question period.
- Short papers
Report of unpublished late-breaking research results and work in progress of innovative ideas. Between 2 and 4 pages. Published in the proceedings. A 10 min presentation followed by a 5 min question period.
- Applied papers
Real world experience in HCI to share with others. Two formats are accepted, namely 5 to 8 pages with a 20 min presentation and a 10 min question period, or 2 to 4 pages with a 10 min presentation and a 5 min question period. Published in the proceedings.
- Posters
Early research results of unpublished work that are of sufficient significance to raise interest. Between 2 and 4 pages. Published in the proceedings companion notes. Presented in a stand.
- Doctoral consortium
Opportunity for doctoral candidates to present their work in front of a research panel. Between 2 and 4 pages. Published in the proceedings companion notes. A 20 min presentation followed by a 10 min question period.
The deadline for doctoral consortium is February 24.

Presentation of interactive and experimental systems, innovative interfaces, or interactive art. Videos are a good opportunity to present interactive technologies to a larger audience. 2 pages. Published in the proceedings. For the demos, a 15 to 30 min presentation.
- Tutorials
Half-day or full day tutorials on various HCI themes. They can cover practical or theoretical topics, and target beginners as well as experts in their field. Tutors will receive a fee. Between 2 and 4 pages. Not published in the proceedings.
- Workshops
Half-day to full-day workshops hosted before the conference. Can be organized under the initiative of a working group in HCI. 2 pages. Not published in the proceedings.
